The retail market faces new challenges and mutual cooperation of the whole real estate sector is needed. Therefore, the Czech Council of Shopping Centers organised its first Czech and Slovak Conference to share best practice and spark insightful discussion between the stakeholders. Our conference managed to attract 166 attendees representing 62 companies from 4 countries.

We invited a group of retail industry professionals including landlords, retailers, economic experts and analysts and a global futurologist to talk about the needs of various generations of shoppers and the adaptation of landlords/retailers to help them stay relevant and prosper in the upcoming years of the new normal. Five years ago, the biggest question was whether e-commerce is going to kill traditional retail. Recent global shock by global pandemic showed incredible resilience of our traditional retail mainly shopping centres. No matter the conditions, people have always been shopping and if we do it right they will continue to enjoy it in many years to come especially with new generation alfa. We understood though, that we need to digitalize, bring emotions and more personalisation. The retail industry is also an important catalyst of other real estate segments – as long as people will be shopping, there will also be demand for logistic, office, and production space.

Thanks goes out to our 14 headline speakers and panelists: Dominik Stroukal, Tomáš Drtina, Laszlo Bodok, Janis Erion Berberi, Pavel Hynek, Miloš Navrátil, Ben Binns, Tomáš Míček, Petra Hajná, Karolína Šustrová, Oldřich Špůrek, and our keynote speaker Ken Hughes. Thanks also to Gabriela Pluhařová, Petra Krmelová, Ondřej Křivanec and Petr Brabec for organizing the event and our sponsors Atrium Czech Real Estate Management, M2C, RPM Service, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield and WOOD & Company.
